These days, I am going to talk about “What makes a lovely and green home”.

Green has numerous meanings to many individuals. Some say, its a color and some say “it’s about our planet Earth”. And they all are appropriate in their respective terminology. But with the present initiatives taken at different levels… for me Green is now increasingly about our environment. Yes, all those key phrases like “Global warming”, “Solar”, “Wind power”, Hydro electric” etc it “ALL” boils down to environment friendly energy and more about “Environment Friendly Residence”. Your Home. YES, now is a higher chance for all of us to participate and contribute in developing a Green, Environment Friendly Residence. Did you notice, just couple of years back, you imagined that you had nothing to do with environment. And now, with new global initiatives you can be part of it, beginning to contribute your few cents towards it.

So with that said, now a days, it all starts with your own residence. We talk about installing a SOLAR panel. Agreed, its excellent. But just before we do that, let us answer this question HONESTLY. As a home owner, how responsible we are to develop a energy efficient residence? What responsibility you have taken in your own home, in order to say proudly “YES, I am contributing in creating a energy efficient house”. 2&gtDo you switch OFF your air circulating systems (such as FAN, AC, Heaters), when rooms are NOT occupied?
3&gtDo you turn OFF your Television, DVD, Video player, Audio method, when you are not watching/listening the program?
4&gtDo you turn OFF the sprinklers, when they are NOT in use?
five&gtDo your appliances go “Auto Off” mode, when NOT in use?
6&gtDo you have energy efficient dimmers, to control the energy consumption?
7&gtDoes the HOT water keep running, when you really can suffice with cold water?
8&gtDoes your water faucet maintain dripping for NO reason?
9&gtDoes the shower maintain dripping for NO reason?
10&gtHow about the laundry loads? Do we manage loads efficiently, so we dont have to RUN a second load?
11&gtHow about the Vacuum cleaner? Is it becoming utilised efficiently?
12&gtHope, Grills are running efficiently too.

So the point is, to contribute to our planet EARTH and environment, DOES NOT necessarily mean, shelling OUT couple of bucks and commence installing panels. But, it can start off with couple of baby steps.
